Help care for people and lift safety standards in a thriving Kiwi‑owned food business that’s growing across New Zealand and Australia.
Based at the Penrose manufacturing hub, this part‑time role is all about supporting the systems, people, and culture that keep everyone safe, well, and ready to thrive at work.
About the role
We’re looking for a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Coordinator to help strengthen the safety, culture and support the team with H&S systems & reporting as the business continues to grow and evolve.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll work closely with both the leadership and Quality teams to keep health, safety, and wellbeing frameworks practical, compliant, and effective day‑to‑day.
You’ll be joining at an exciting time, as ongoing site upgrades, system refreshes, and cultural initiatives shape the next phase of our growth.
This is a permanent position, 32 hours per week with the flexibility to work across four full days or reduced hours spread over five days
What you’ll do
- Keep health and safety systems, files, and training records up to date and useful, so they genuinely reflect how work happens on the floor.
- Coordinate inspections, hazard reviews, and incident reporting — turning insights into practical improvements with managers and teams.
- Partner with Quality and Operations to maintain robust documentation and compliance processes.
- Manage ACC and return‑to‑work processes, supporting safe and timely recovery for employees.
- Track wellbeing trends and champion initiatives that support mental, physical, and social wellbeing across a diverse workforce.
- Help lift capability by coordinating training, inductions, licences, and audits to ensure everyone has what they need to work safely and confidently.
What success looks like
- Engaged people who feel supported and confident to work safely.
- Smooth coordination of safety, wellbeing, and people records that are current and easy to use.
- Fewer injuries and incidents, with practical controls in place and early intervention.
- Strong collaboration between operations, quality, and leadership teams.
- Up‑to‑date training and audit readiness at all times.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in health and safety, wellbeing, HR coordination, or operations — ideally within food production, manufacturing, or FMCG.
- Working knowledge of NZ Health & Safety legislation and ACC, or the enthusiasm to build that capability quickly.
- Excellent organisation, documentation, and follow‑through skills.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building ability across all levels and shifts.
- A proactive, down‑to‑earth approach — comfortable supporting everyone from senior leaders to front‑line teams.
Why you’ll love it
- Be part of a proudly Kiwi success story with a growing trans‑Tasman footprint.
- Work closely with leaders who genuinely value safety, wellbeing, and inclusion.
- Enjoy a flexible four‑day or reduced‑hours five‑day working arrangement that fits your lifestyle.
- Join a collaborative, down‑to‑earth culture where people work hard, have fun, and look out for each other.
