About the role

We are looking for a Communications Lead to join our Customer Experience team. Reporting to the Communications & Brand Engagement Manager, this role is about supporting and delivering LIC’s communications strategy.You’ll lead a talented team, collaborate across the business, and ensure LIC’s voice is clear, consistent, and impactful across every channel.


This role will need to be based in Head Office in Hamilton at least 4 days per week.


What you’ll do

  • Deliver the strategy: Work with the Communications & Brand Engagement Manager to bring LIC’s communications strategy to life.
  • Create messages that land: Use insights and audience data to shape communications that resonate with farmers, stakeholders, and industry partners.
  • Lead the team: Coach and mentor the communications team, building digital, agile, and insight-led capability.
  • Promote and protect the brand: Act as a trusted media liaison, manage issues, and ensure LIC’s story is consistently told.
  • Engage stakeholders: Support government and industry relations through clear, trusted communications.
  • Multi-channel delivery: Oversee content across digital, social, traditional media, and internal channels.
  • Measure impact: Use analytics, feedback, and stakeholder insights to refine strategy and demonstrate outcomes.
  • Run projects: Lead high-impact comms initiatives from concept to delivery, balancing agility with long-term vision.


What you’ll bring

  • 10+ years’ senior communications experience, ideally gained in large, complex organisations with established best-practice frameworks.

  • Proven track record in B2B communications, engaging stakeholders such as shareholders, government, media, and industry bodies.

  • Natural leadership ability where you can confidently coach, mentor, and bring the team together to foster collaboration across functions.

  • Outstanding storytelling and writing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, audience-focused messages.

  • Digital fluency and confidence using data, analytics, and insights to shape communications and measure impact.

  • Change and project management expertise.
